Nintendo and Ubisoft have confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to the Switch 2 this year. There were a few leaks and rumors suggesting the game is being ported to the handheld but neither company had revealed anything, till now. The trailer shared by Nintendo shows the game running on the Switch 2 and from the looks of it, its running quite well, which is interesting seeing as how Elden Ring was delayed due to performance issues.
Nintendo shared an announcement trailer on YouTube showing Assassin’s Creed Shadows running on the Switch 2. The game will release for the handheld on December 2. While the render resolution and FPS is hard to make out from the video, the game seems to be running smoothly. It looks like this will be the base game only, without the Claws of Awaji expansion, the release date for which is unclear.
The price for the game has also not been revealed and the Nintendo store page is not live as of yet.
At the same time, Ubisoft shared a roadmap for the game, explaining that a new parkour update is coming on October 28, as well as a third story drop arriving on November 25. The parkour update will add the ability to catch a ledge in any direction while falling and also ejecting from a ledge in any direction. As for the free story drop, there will be a new quest with new abilities and a special collaboration that will be revealed at a later date.
The Assassin’s Creed Shadows launch date for the Switch 2 comes shortly after the delay announcement for Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the Switch 2 version of the game. FromSoftware cited performance adjustments as the reason for the delay, suggesting they need more time to optimize for the platform. Notably, there was no Switch 2 launch date attached to Elden Ring Tarnished Edition in the first place, and that’s true even now after the 2026 delay announcement.
