Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Switch 2 port possible despite Ubisoft dismissing game

Several Ubisoft games are already out on Nintendo’s handheld. That’s why fans felt disappointed when the publisher said its latest title wouldn’t land on the console. However, one insider has hinted that an Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced Switch 2 port is coming.

A leak or wishful thinking?

Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly curiously posted a box shot for the remake on social media. Unfortunately, he didn’t explain the significance of the image, generating more speculation. The insider has a mixed track record for predictions, and the claim would seem to contradict official statements.

A recent free update for Assassin's Creed Shadows included content that was shared with Black Flag Resynced. The company then added that Switch 2 owners couldn’t access the items, since the remake will “not be releasing for Nintendo.”

It’s not surprising that the title didn’t ship for the handheld on its July 9th PS5, Xbox, and PC release date. Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws required clever optimization just to meet a 30 fps goal. In some ways, the modernized pirate-themed adventure is more demanding.

Switch 2 challenges

Despite offering a smaller open world, a Black Flag Resynced Switch 2 port may have to sacrifice visual perks. Using an upgraded graphics engine, the improved global illumination and water effects threaten to stress the hardware. Nevertheless, developers have shown the ability to make compromises that don’t significantly impact image quality.

With Ubisoft’s financial difficulties, it may not be able to sacrifice the additional revenue. The publisher divulged that the Switch 2 version of Shadows helped the Assassin's Creed franchise overperform in Q3 2026. Recently, it also admitted that new tentpole games would be sparse, likely until Codename Hexe surfaces as soon as 2027.

It’s recommended to take Kiwi Talkz’s possible Black Flag Resynced leak with a grain of salt. Still, given the positive reviews and strong sales on the platform, Nintendo loyalists have a reason to be optimistic.
