The putative Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag remake isn't exactly a secret, with multiple leaks heralding its imminent arrival. Until now, it was slated to arrive sometime in 2026, but a new report by Insider Gaming now zeroes in on its launch timeline further.
It will launch before the fiscal year ends, which is March 31, 2026- not particularly surprising given the game was in development since as early as 2024. A subsequent SteamDB datamine implied it was in the final stages of development.
With the recent troubles Ubisoft has been through, the decision to push out the Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remake early is likely necessary to put the company back on track. Black Flag was revered by fans, and many wouldn't mind revisiting it with modern features.
At the time of writing, nothing is set in stone, but now that the cat is out of the bag, it is only a matter of time before an official announcement comes. Regardless, it can't come soon enough, because Ubisoft's last nautical-themed AAAA game, Skull and Bones, wasn't exactly a smash hit.
