For several months now, rumors have been circulating about a remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. But while no official announcement has been made, a developer at Ubisoft Montreal claims to be working on this game.
Since its release in 2013, Ubisoft has developed numerous other games, which have enjoyed varying degrees of success. But fans are waiting for a remake of this title, and the slightest clue is immediately spotted.
This was recently the case with Christian Peden, a developer at Ubisoft Montreal. On LinkedIn, he claims to have been working on this remake since February 2024, as can be seen in this post published by @TheHiddenOneAC on X.
Of course, the name of the game is not mentioned, and instead we find the code name Assassin's Creed: Codename Obsidian, which had already been associated with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag by certain insiders a few months ago.
However, while this information may seem official, it is best to remain cautious. Ubisoft has not yet spoken on this subject, and it does not seem that it will do so in the coming weeks. In addition, these hypotheses have not been confirmed.
Nevertheless, if we consider that this remake exists, it could be at a fairly advanced stage of development. And this could suggest a release date in 2026 or early 2027.
