Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s free story expansion, Valley of Memory, will release on November 18, as part of the game’s second anniversary, promising six hours of additional gameplay and story content.
The details of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC were first revealed earlier in August. The DLC takes place before the game’s finale, where protagonist Basim discovers rumors that his long-lost father may still be alive in the Arabian City of Al-Ula.
According to Valley of Memory director Florian Salomez, speaking in a new dev diary as part of the reveal event:
“The main challenge is to restore the place as it could have been in the ninth century. A flourishing civilization on one side, and an ancient wilderness on the other. Just like the golden age of Baghdad, most documentation of this incredibly rich setting was lost to time.
And as always with the Assassin’s Creed brand, we want to make sure the setting and the period shine. The recreation process is unique, as it is both an artistic and historical endeavor.”
Upon reaching the valley, Basim finds it under threat from “Robbers” and no sign of his father, building up to the new chapter in the 9th-century setting. The expansion introduces new areas and points of interest, like the old town of Al-Ula, the Elephant Rock, the Al-Farid Tomb, the Musa ibn Musayr fortress, the Valley of Stones, and the necropolis of Hegra.
A new feature allows Basim to play the Oud at select sites after collecting music sheets through various parkour sequences, similar to Ghost of Tsushima’s Haiku locations. Beyond the new story, Valley of Memory will bring substantial improvements to Al-Ula and Baghdad.
All Black Box missions and contracts will become replayable upon completion and accessible via the Animus Sequences section of the objective board. Parkour mechanics have also been refined with the ability to manually toggle jumping, allowing players to access previously impossible free-running paths.
Further refinements include a new Engineer 2 Skill in Basim’s tree, allowing players to equip all Level 1 tool modifications, along with a Level 3 upgrade for every tool.
The Valley of Memory DLC became possible via a partnership between Ubisoft and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux and Ubisoft Paris, along with support from Ubisoft Bucharest, Da Nang, Montpellier, Valley of Memory is free for all Assassin’s Creed Mirage owners, which is available on Ubisoft+, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, Amazon Luna, iOS, and PC.
