Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced trailer leaks before Ubisoft reveals remake

Ubisoft plans to officially unveil Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on an April 23rd livestream. However, after numerous past leaks, part of a trailer for the remake has already surfaced. With a full makeover of the original 2013 game anticipated, initial impressions of the footage are positive.
First, intercelluar posted a screenshot from a 1-minute, 8-second trailer on social media, previewing the Black Flag remake (not seen below). A disclaimer explains that it features a blend of “in-progress gameplay and in-game cinematics.” The leaker then added a pair of images before finally sharing 10 seconds of the trailer.
The media showcases Edward Kenway, the protagonist of the Assassin’s Creed game. Edward Thatch, aka Blackbeard, is standing next to the hero on a ship deck. Players also see a glimpse of the sea, with water and wave effects a highlight of the original release. The narrated video depicts the early stages of a naval battle, complete with cannon fire and explosions.
Does Black Flag need a remake?
When the title debuted in 2013, critics praised its graphics as cutting-edge. Still, it appears that the devs and artists did more than just upscale the action-adventure’s visuals. Previous rumblings hinted that the company would overhaul the graphics with modern lighting effects.
How intercelluar obtained the footage of the Black Flag remake is unclear. Rumors pointed to an announcement on April 16th before suffering a delay. Even so, Insider Gaming reported that the media and content creators viewed a 30-minute presentation. It’s possible that assets from that event escaped Ubisoft’s control.
Insider Gaming also believes that the publisher will confirm an Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced release date for July 9th, 2026. There are still many unanswered questions, including whether more RPG elements or a multiplayer mode will appear. Either way, it’s likely Ubisoft will add the remake to the Animus Hub, which is part of the company’s shift toward live-service games.
