Finally! Ghost Recon update is coming soon

After several leaks and rumors started circulating about the next Ghost Recon game, Ubisoft confirmed its development in July last year. Since then, the company has stayed silent on the project. Now, looks like the team is almost ready to share more information on the game, codenamed Project OVR.

The official Ghost Recon X account shared the update, simply stating that the team will share more information on August 6. The date marks the 25th anniversary of Ghost Recon, and it’s good to hear that the project is still in development despite all the turmoil at Ubisoft. Initial speculation suggested the game would release in the fall of this year, which seems unlikely. More recent reports have claimed Project OVR will enter beta in November this year.

As per leaks from June last year, the next Ghost Recon game is said to be a first-person military simulation (mil-sim) revolving around a fictional ‘Naiman war.’ It has also been described as a tactical shooter like Ready or Not or somewhat similar to the Modern Warfare series. Furthermore, this instalment is being developed on Unreal Engine 5.

As for the August 6 announcement, whether or not we get to see gameplay remains to be seen. Hopefully, we’ll get a release date as well as dates for an open beta.
