Ubisoft is sending fresh signals that it may be placing a stronger focus on AI. Current job listings suggest that generative AI could play a larger role at the French publisher going forward – and that is already sparking debate within the gaming community.

Only recently, in connection with DLSS 5, it became clear that Ubisoft is open to using artificial intelligence. Now the company appears to be moving more deliberately in that direction. As Insider Gaming reports, Ubisoft is explicitly asking for hands-on experience with AI tools in current job postings.

One notable example is a now-removed listing for a Technical Art Director at Ubisoft Annecy. According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft was looking for someone to work on an unannounced AAA project who already had experience with generative AI tools. The posting reportedly mentioned ComfyUI, MidJourney, ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, among others. Ubisoft was also reportedly looking for a Prompt Specialist with knowledge of multiple language models to work closely with teams in game design, narrative, animation and programming.

This suggests that Ubisoft may not view generative AI as a side experiment, but instead aims to integrate it directly into development and production workflows. How far this approach will go in practice remains unclear. So far, the reports are based solely on job listings, and Ubisoft has not publicly explained how it intends to use AI in concrete terms.

Opinions in the Reddit community are divided. Many users are reacting with mockery and skepticism, while others point out that AI-related requirements have become fairly common across tech jobs. The more important question is not whether Ubisoft will use AI, but how it will be used – whether simply to support workflows or also to create creative content. The latter would likely be far less well received by the community.
