The Dangbei Smart Fish Tank 2S Ultra will launch in China on April 26, 2026.
With the Smart Fish Tank 2S Ultra, Dangbei is introducing an AI-powered aquarium designed to take over much of the work involved in fish care. Using AI-based image recognition, it is intended to identify the species, number and size of the fish in order to adjust feeding, lighting and water quality accordingly.

Anyone who has always wanted to keep fish but has so far been discouraged by the amount of care involved may now finally have a reason to get an aquarium of their own. Dangbei’s Smart Fish Tank 2S Ultra is an AI-controlled aquarium that automates fish care almost entirely. In practice, the owner’s remaining tasks are largely limited to refilling the feed hopper and occasionally changing the water. Feeding, lighting and water-quality monitoring – often the most challenging aspects of fishkeeping for beginners – are handled by the aquarium itself.

Using AI-based image recognition, the aquarium is supposed to automatically identify the species, number and size of the animals inside it. Based on that data, key functions such as feeding, lighting, water flow and sterilization are adjusted accordingly. It is also said to monitor water quality in real time and issue warnings if problems arise. The hardware includes a dual-filter system, two pumps for water circulation and oxygen supply, and an automatic feeder. The feeder is said to hold enough food for up to 180 days. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also included, allowing the tank to be monitored and controlled remotely via an app.

For lighting, Dangbei uses 45 LEDs built into the lid. Gizmochina describes the setup as full-spectrum lighting intended not only for ornamental fish but also for aquatic plants. The tank has a capacity of 8.5 gallons (32 liters), which naturally limits the number of suitable species. Possible options include guppies or a single betta, potentially accompanied by dwarf shrimp and snails. One important point should be noted: the AI-controlled tank does not appear to be designed for saltwater aquariums – at least there is no concrete indication that it is.

The idea of a smart aquarium is not entirely new. Xiaomi already offers a similar product with the MIJIA Smart. That model is essentially an app-controlled aquarium, however. With AI-powered fish recognition, Dangbei goes a step further. In China, sales of the Smart Fish Tank 2S Ultra will begin on April 26, 2026, at a price of 599 yuan, which is equivalent to around $88. It remains unclear whether the smart aquarium will also be released in Europe or North America.
