Huawei has announced a new pair of smart glasses with notable improvements over the last model. The new Huawei AI Glasses are lighter, have a camera, better speakers, and are available in three styles.

Alongside the new smartphones and smartwatches, Huawei also announced a new pair of smart glasses at its Pura mega launch event. Simply called the Huawei AI Glasses, the new wearable can be termed as a successor to the Huawei Smart Glasses 2 released a year ago.

The Huawei Smart Glasses have an upgraded design compared to the previous model. Made from a titanium alloy, Huawei says the design has been optimized so that the weight distribution is better, making them comfortable even when worn for a long period. The new smart glasses weigh about 35.5 grams and have temples that are just 6.25 millimeters thick. They are also rated IP54 for dust and water resistance, so they shouldn't get damaged by sweat.

Huawei offers the AI Glasses in three variants. There's Titanium Silver Gray which has a semi-rimless/half-rim optical glasses design; Shimmering Silver which is a classic full-rim sunglasses; and Modern Black which is a full-rim optical glasses design.

The Huawei AI Smart Glasses are powered by a proprietary AI chip which uses a dual-engine architecture. The on-device AI assistant can be activated via voice or a button. It will also work in noisy environments, filtering out background noise; and also accurately recognize your voice when speaking at a low volume (as low as 47dB).

With respect to features the Huawei AI Glasses now has a camera. It is a 12MP 1/2.8 sensor that can record videos at a resolution of 1920 x 1440 at 30fps and capture images at a resolution of 4092 × 3072. Huawei says it also supports the HDR Vivid Standard, a first for AI smart glasses, as well as support for AI RAW for sharper images.

The smart glasses will also automatically correct images and videos if the glasses are tilted before capturing or recording. It also has Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and a low-light mode. Captured images and videos are automatically uploaded to the gallery of the connected smartphone and users can also preview captured images on their smartwatches. There's also support for seamlessly switching between the phone's camera and that of the glasses during a livestream.

Other features of the Huawei AI Smart Glasses include support for contactless payments, support for smart home control, and live translation. Huawei says it has also improved the speakers as they now feature its Huawei Histen algorithm for crystal clear audio playback, while the triple-microphone array ensures that sounds are accurately picked up. It also claims the antenna design has been improved and it results in faster Wi-Fi speeds, better signal transmission and reception, and improved resistance to interference even in dense areas.

The Huawei AI Glasses have a 258mAh battery capacity that should provide up to 12 hours of use. A full charge takes 45 minutes and its magnetic charger connector allows it to be used when charging. It has 64GB of storage, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Multipoint, support for touch controls, and wear detection.

Pricing for the Huawei AI Glasses starts at CNY 2499 (~$367/€311) for the Titanium Silver Gray and Modern Black and goes up to CNY 2899 (~$425/€361) for the Shimmering Silver sunglasses version. It is already available to pre-order ahead of its release on April 25.
