Huawei has announced a new luxury smartwatch that doubles as a piece of high-end jewelry. Marketed at women, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition also boasts premium features and a heavy price tag to match.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate Design is now available in a new variant. The new smartwatch is called the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Extraordinary Master Diamond Edition a.k.a. Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition, and Huawei explicitly states that it is targeted at women, unlike the Royal Gold Edition and Sapphire Gold Edition which have a masculine design.

Designed by Francesca Amfitheatrof, an internationally renowned jewelry designer, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition is a fusion of jewelry and a smartwatch. The smartwatch is adorned with 99 natural diamonds and has an outer bezel with 60 facets that reflect the flow of time (60 seconds, 60 minutes).

The digital crown, which has 18 facets, features a natural diamond in the center, while the silver metal strap, which is inspired by the Fibonacci sequence, has a high-gloss mirror finish and 98 natural diamonds hand-set by experienced jewelers. The display is protected by sapphire crystal glass, the case is made of titanium alloy, and the back is ceramic.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition isn't only gorgeous on the outside, but also on the inside. Huawei says the smartwatch features unique dynamic dials that uses light and shadows to exude a jewel-like quality.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition packs premium health and fitness features such as blood pressure monitoring, ECG, and PPG. Users will be able to measure all three by placing a finger on the X-TAP smart window that sits between the digital crown and secondary button. The smartwatch can also track sleep, heart rate, and mood; and it can use the data from these readings to predict menstrual cycles and generate a menstrual cycle report.

Huawei says it has also added a PCOS risk assessment feature to the watch, although it adds the caveat that its watch isn't a medical device and users should still see a doctor for a proper checkup. Another health-focused feature of the watch is the ability to record your daily diet by voice, which is then analyzed and used to generate a safe weight loss plan.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition also has smart features such as being able to unlock compatible cars such as those made by AITO. Users will be able to control and check the vehicle's status from their watch. Huawei says, if a user is involved in a car accident, the watch can connect to the car and phone to provide real-time health information such as their heart rate to emergency services.

With respect to technical specifications, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition has a 1.38-inch 466 × 466 LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It has a dual IP rating (IP68 and IP69) alongside a 5ATM water-resistance rating.

The spec sheet says its dimensions are 42.9 × 42.9 × 10.8 mm while its weight is 91 grams. It also states that the watch is suitable for wrists between 130 -150 mm. Other features of the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition include eSIM support, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi (Wi-FI 6), and GPS. It also has an accelerometer, barometer, and a temperature sensor.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate Design Diamond Edition is priced at CNY 29,999 (~$4400/€3737) and will be released on May 15.
