The MacBook Pro ($1,759 on Amazon), together with an upgrade to the Apple M6 Pro and M6 Max, is set to receive a brand new design for the first time since the introduction of the M1 models in fall 2021. With a thinner chassis, a punch-hole instead of a notch and a touchscreen based on a tandem OLED panel, this is rumored to be the most significant MacBook upgrade in years.
According to the latest information from Bloomberg, Apple's schedule is expected to be slightly delayed due to the DRAM crisis. While most rumors so far have indicated that Apple is planning a launch towards the end of 2026, the next-generation MacBook Pro is now not expected to hit the market until early 2027.
Bloomberg emphasizes that Apple's software would be on schedule for a fall launch, but the DRAM crisis is causing delays in Apple's supply chain. While Apple is expected to give the MacBook Pro a brand new hinge and some macOS adaptations for use with a touchscreen, the notebook will reportedly still not be an iPad hybrid - features such as the Apple Pencil are likely to be reserved for the tablet.

This delay will not only affect the MacBook Pro, but also the Mac Studio. Bloomberg's sources assume that deliveries of the next-generation Mac Studio will not begin until October. The Mac Studio is not expected to receive any design changes, but will be significantly more powerful thanks to new chips. The timing suggests that the mini desktop will be offered with either an Apple M5 Max or an Apple M5 Ultra.
