Huawei unveils Pura X Max with 3:2 display, stylus and variable aperture

The Huawei Pura X Max has a compact 5.4-inch secondary display with a 3:2 format - significantly wider than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 ($1,719 on Amazon). The OLED panel is protected from scratches by second-generation Kunlun Glass, the frame rate can be variably adjusted from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and the resolution is 1,848 x 1,264 pixels.
When the Pura X Max is opened, a 7.7-inch display in landscape format is revealed, which supports a stylus. The main display has 2,584 × 1,828 pixels and 120 Hz. The IP59-certified and therefore waterproof foldable phone is 5.2 mm thick when unfolded and 11.2 mm when folded. Apart from the aspect ratio of the displays, the cameras are the highlight of the device.
Huawei has installed a 50 MP f/1.4 - 4.0 main camera, a 12.5 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 50 MP f/2.2 periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. There is an 8 MP selfie camera in both the main and secondary display. The 5,300 mAh battery can be charged via USB-C with up to 66 watts, wireless charging is possible with a maximum of 50 watts. A HiSilicon Kirin 9030 Pro ARM chip, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 complete the package.
Prices and availability
The Huawei Pura X Max will first be launched in China. The base model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB flash memory costs 10,999 CNY ($1,610) , while Huawei is charging 13,999 CNY ($2,050) for the top model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB memory. Details on the international launch are still pending.
