These Ubisoft projects remain in development after studio closures and cancellations

Ubisoft is currently undergoing a major restructuring that has already resulted in the closure of several studios and the cancellation of at least six games, including the long-awaited Prince of Persia remake. This naturally raises the question of which projects remain in development. Some answers have now emerged, both from official statements and insider sources.
Speaking to Variety, Guillemot confirmed that the company is developing two Far Cry titles as well as several games set within the Assassin’s Creed universe. While he did not provide concrete details, Insider Gaming has reported further information. According to insider sources, the two Far Cry projects include a new mainline entry, codenamed Blackbird, and a standalone, action-driven shooter known internally as Maverick. Both titles have reportedly faced multiple delays and adjustments, particularly during the restructuring phase in early 2026.
Ubisoft continues to expand the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Official statements reference several upcoming titles spanning both single-player and multiplayer experiences. According to Insider Gaming, three projects are firmly in development. These reportedly include a multiplayer spin-off, a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (PS4 version available on Amazon for around $20), and the darker project known internally as Hexe. At the same time, two additional Assassin’s Creed titles are said to have been canceled, one of which was planned as a trading card game.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft is also reinforcing its established brands. According to Guillemot, Rainbow Six Siege X draws around 2.5 million daily players, while Rainbow Six Mobile is scheduled for a worldwide release on February 23, 2026. The company is also expanding beyond gaming. Planned projects include a live-action Assassin’s Creed series for Netflix and a Far Cry adaptation currently in development at FX.
