Sharge claims to have launched the world’s first transparent portable solid-state drive with active cooling. Called the Disk Pro, the project is live on Kickstarter with early bird pricing from $139. Regular pricing is listed at $199 for 1 TB, $299 for 2 TB, and $399 for 4 TB.
According to the company, the Disk Pro features a transparent design that shows internal SSD operations in real time. It also integrates an active cooling fan, which Sharge says can keep temperatures at or below 47 °C during heavy transfers, while competing drives can throttle beyond 70 °C.
The drive is advertised with 10 Gbps transfer speeds, and Sharge claims this allows 500 GB of 8K footage to be moved in about 18 minutes. Storage capacities go up to 4 TB.
In addition, Sharge says the Disk Pro doubles as a 5-port hub, with a built-in USB-C cable, USB-C port, HDMI, and USB-A. The company states that this setup can power laptops, connect displays, and transfer data across up to four devices simultaneously.
Sharge positions the Disk Pro as a solution for content creators, gamers, mobile professionals, and users of port-limited devices, citing faster file transfers, expanded connectivity, and stable performance under load as its main selling points.
The Kickstarter campaign has already surpassed its funding goal, with Sharge planning deliveries later this year. In case you want to watch the review of the SSD, you can find the video linked below.
