The latest mini-laptop crowdfunding on Kickstarter is equal parts compact and versatile. Despite being a convertible, the device measures just 24.5 x 18.8 x 2 cm (9.65 x 7.40 x 0.79 in) and weighs 980 g (2.16 lb). The Torsin 3-in-1 features a hinge that allows its 10.5-inch touchscreen to rotate and fold back over the keyboard, effectively transforming it into a tablet.
The display uses an IPS panel with a 1,920 x 1,280 resolution, peak brightness of 300 nits, and full sRGB coverage. Besides the compact design and versatile hinge, another notable feature is the round trackpad surrounded by buttons for quick adjustments to volume and screen brightness. The built-in battery boasts a 5,500 mAh capacity, though the company hasn't provided specific battery life estimates.
Powering the mini-laptop is an Intel Processor N150, equipped with only four Gracemont efficiency cores clocked at up to 3.6 GHz, offering just enough performance for less demanding tasks. Nonetheless, the notebook includes a relatively wide range of I/O options, such as two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, a Mini HDMI interface, and a microSD card slot.
Price and availability
The Torsin Basic Edition, which comes without memory, storage or an operating system, is currently available for preorder at a special price of $378 as part of the Kickstarter campaign, with prices gradually increasing to $526 later. Shipping is expected to begin in November 2025.
The listed prices exclude shipping costs, import taxes, and duties. Since this is Torsin’s first Kickstarter project, potential backers should exercise caution when deciding whether to support the campaign. It remains uncertain whether the company can actually manufacture and deliver the laptop with the advertised specs.
