The OnePlus 15, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max have gone head-to-head in a real-world battery drain test conducted by TechDroider. Despite its smaller battery, the iPhone managed to secure second place, while the OnePlus 15 and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max battled closely for the top spot.

Before the global launch of the OnePlus 15, we have already seen how it performs in benchmarks like Geekbench 6. We have also seen how the upcoming flagship manages thermal workloads, thanks to its new cooling technology. As expected from a flagship, it will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a massive 7,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery. By now, we know most of the specifications of the OnePlus 15, including its 6.78-inch OLED display with a 1272 × 2772-pixel resolution, a 50 MP triple-camera setup, UFS 4.1 flash storage, and more.

With such seemingly high-end specifications, the OnePlus 15’s real-world performance has now been put to the test. The YouTube channel TechDroider conducted a detailed battery comparison between the OnePlus 15, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

For context, the Xiaomi 17 Pro features a slightly larger 6.9-inch OLED display with a 1200 × 2608-pixel resolution. It is equipped with a slightly bigger 7,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery and is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

Meanwhile, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, powered by the A19 Pro chip, also features a 6.9-inch OLED display with a higher resolution of 1320 × 2868 pixels and a smaller 4,832 mAh conventional lithium-ion battery.

The battery test began with a three-hour PUBG Mobile session, after which the OnePlus 15 still had 78% battery remaining, the iPhone 17 Pro Max stood at 77%, and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max was at 76%. Next came three hours of 1080p YouTube playback, bringing the remaining battery levels to 66% on the OnePlus, 64% on the iPhone, and 64% on the Xiaomi.

After an hour and a half of web browsing and another round of using Instagram, the gap remained narrow: 53% battery left on the OnePlus, 48% on the iPhone, and 47% on the Xiaomi. Finally, all three devices recorded 4K videos at 60 fps until they ran out of power.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, despite its larger 7,500 mAh battery and HyperOS optimisation, was the first to shut down at 12 hours 50 minutes. The iPhone 17 Pro Max followed at 13 hours 2 minutes, an impressive showing for Apple’s A19 Pro Bionic chip and iOS efficiency. The OnePlus 15 emerged as the clear winner, lasting 13 hours 40 minutes, the best result among the three.

TechDroider also noted that despite the OnePlus 15’s larger 7,300 mAh battery, it remains nearly identical in footprint to the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max (162.9 × 77.6 × 8 mm, 219 g) and the iPhone 17 Pro Max (163.4 × 78 × 8.8 mm, 233 g). All three offer similar size, weight, and thickness while delivering comparable battery life for their class.

In short, the OnePlus 15 edges out two of the strongest flagships in a real-world battery test. You can check out the full battery testing video below.
