The OnePlus 15 is now official in China ahead of the smartphone's release early next month in other markets. As expected, the OnePlus 15 departs from its predecessor in several areas, and not just in terms of design. For instance, OnePlus' latest smartphone adopts the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which should remain Qualcomm's most powerful mobile chipset for a while yet.
Additionally, this year's OnePlus flagship jumps from UFS 4.0 to UFS 4.1 flash storage for improved storage read and write speeds. While LPDDR5X RAM returns, OnePlus has switched to a 7,300 mAh battery that supports 50 W wireless and 120 W wired charging. On top of that, the OnePlus 15 contains the following camera hardware:
- Primary: 50 MP, f/1.8 aperture, 24 mm equivalent focal length, OIS
- Telephoto: 50 MP, f/2.8 aperture, 80 mm equivalent focal length, 3.5x optical zoom OIS
- Ultra-wide-angle: 50 MP, f/2.0 aperture, 16 mm equivalent focal length, 116° FoV
- Front-facing: 32 MP, f/2.4 aperture, 21 mm equivalent focal length
It is worth noting that OnePlus has swapped Hasselblad camera tunings for an in-house Lumo camera engine. Moreover, the OnePlus 15 leverages IP69K dust and water certification to help protect its flat AMOLED display that measures 6.78-inches diagonally. For reference, this display outputs at 2,772 x 1,272 pixels with a 1-120 Hz refresh rate that hits 165 Hz in some scenarios. Full panel brightness only hits 1,800 nits, though.
The OnePlus 15 starts at CNY 3,999 (~$563) for a CNY 500 (~$70) saving on last year's OnePlus 13 (curr. $776 on Amazon). Based on recent leaks, OnePlus could pass this saving onto consumers in other markets too. Full OnePlus 15 pricing in China is as follows:
- 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 3,999 (~$563)
- 16 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 4,299 (~$605)
- 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 4,599 (~$647)
- 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 4,899 (~$690)
