Xiaomi is leading the battery revolution. Even in its most affordable devices, battery sizes are now skyrocketing, resulting in incredibly long battery life. The Redmi 15C 4G, which we recently reviewed, has even more unusual features for a $100+ price tag.

Given the intensive research and development currently surrounding electric car batteries, this could have come much sooner. But new battery technology finally seem to have arrived in smartphones. And not just in top-of-line models either. The Xiaomi Redmi 15C 4G, which costs anywhere between $100 - $150 depending on your location, comes with a powerful 6,000 mAh battery.

It took a little longer in the West

While battery capacities have been on the market in China for several months now, they were artificially reduced in Europe and North America. No one can say exactly why, and even manufacturers are keeping quiet. But now the difficulties seem to have been resolved, as Xiaomi is going full steam ahead.

Other models with huge batteries

Xiaomi's current high-end smartphones, the 17 series, also have very high-capacity batteries with 7,000 mAh, and all new phones are increasingly featuring larger batteries. Other manufacturers are following suit. OnePlus has announced its new flagship model with 7,300 mAh. It remains to be seen whether Samsung or Apple will also fall into line.

One of the most affordable Xiaomi phones with great battery life

But if you cannot or do not want to spend so much money, you can save a lot with the Xiaomi Redmi 15C 4G and still get a very durable phone. We measured over 21 hours in our Wi-Fi test, which means this affordable phone beats comparable devices by a long way. At the same time, it features a 120 Hz screen with decent brightnesss and without PWM. Only the resolution could be a little higher.

Advantages and disadvantages of a low-cost smartphone

The Xiaomi Redmi 15C 4G could be the ideal second smartphone as long as you can do without 5G and keep your expectations low in terms of performance. For more details, we recommend taking a look at our detailed review of the Xiaomi Redmi 15 4G.
