According to new reports, Honor is preparing to replace not just the Honor GT but also its GT Pro smartphone. Lining up as the Honor GT 2 and GT 2 Pro, the pair are already tipped to surpass their predecessors in a crucial area.

OnePlus has just released the Ace 6 and OnePlus 15 with 165 Hz AMOLED displays. By contrast, the Ace 5 and OnePlus 13 feature 120 Hz panels (curr. $777 on Amazon). Additionally, both of OnePlus' new smartphones output at 1272p, which is commonly referred to as 1.5K. According to new rumours, Honor is preparing to bring alternative smartphones to market with the same underlying display characteristics.

Specifically, popular Weibo account Experience More asserts that 'both models in the Honor GT2 series' will adopt 165 Hz and 1.5K panels. In comparison, the Honor GT and Honor GT Pro feature 120 Hz and 144 Hz AMOLED panels, respectively. Moreover, the same account claims that the Honor GT 2 and GT 2 Pro will arrive with 6.83-inch displays, which should make both smartphones marginally larger than their direct predecessors.

As we have discussed separately, the Ace 6 and OnePlus 15 will only run as fast as 120 Hz unless an application is whitelisted to support their 165 Hz modes. The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra pulls exactly the same move though, so the Ace 6 and OnePlus 15 are not on their own in this regard. As a result, we would not rule out Honor placing the same restriction on its forthcoming GT series.
