Sidephone - the upcoming modular minimalist mobile - has just unveiled its latest accessory: the Sundial Keypad. It's a swappable control tile purpose-built for music playback and easy device navigation. The announcement, which was made on the official Sidephone Reddit account, shows both the design and real-world integration of the Sundial, which resembles the iPod control wheel (in looks only, not functionality).
The Sundial Keypad features a distinctive circular dial with nine total buttons. Four of these soft-touch controls - arranged within the dial - manage media playback functions such as previous, skip, volume up, and volume down, with a center glass button serving as play/pause. The remaining four corner buttons come preprogrammed for core apps (Phone, Messages, Camera, Clock), and all nine keys are fully user-reprogrammable via the Sidephone’s settings menu. The keypad is modular, as it attaches magnetically to the phone’s base and supports rapid swap-ability. Alongside the Sundial, Sidephone will release eight new silicone case colors, so you can customize your device easily. In a first demonstration video, Sidephone’s Shenzhen-based manufacturing partner was seen slotting the Sundial keypad directly into a production handset.
The initial production run will include 1,000 silver/white Sundial keypads, with a potential silver/black model on offer if demand is justified. The cost for the keypad is set at $29, while each silicone case will retail for $10. Bundle options will allow buyers to mix and match three cases and three keypad types/tiles for $100. The first batch of Sundial accessories is expected to ship alongside the earliest Founders Edition Sidephone devices, with delivery targeted for January 2026. Please note that US pre-orders for the Sidephone SP-01 opened earlier this month on October 16 - you can read more about that here.
