The Honor GT lines up as a new gaming smartphone to compete with recent releases from Asus ROG, iQOO and RedMagic, among others. However, it does so with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. As a result, the Honor GT will only be about as powerful as the older RedMagic 9 Pro or ROG Phone 8 (curr. $799.99 on Amazon), rather than their Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered successors.
With that in mind, the Honor GT has a relatively low starting price, at least in China. Nonetheless, Honor installs a 1200p and 120 Hz AMOLED display that is said to reach 4,000 nits when viewing HDR content. Although full panel brightness drops to 1,200 nits, the Honor GT offers a PWM value of 3,840 Hz to mitigate the issues usually associated with this display dimming technique.
Moreover, the device contains a 5,300 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired charging for a quick top-up after a prolonged gaming session. Meanwhile, the Honor GT also finds itself with an optically stabilised 50 MP primary camera, as well as 16 MP front-facing and 12 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras. Unsurprisingly, Honor has included various gaming-focused software features too, along with a new vapour chamber cooling system.
The Honor GT starts with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage in a choice of three colour options. Alternatively, the device can be configured with 16 GB of RAM and the option of 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. For reference, these memory combinations retail for as follows in China; Honor has not confirmed global availability yet:
- 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,199 (~$302)
- 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 2,599 (~$357)
- 16 GB RAM/256 GB storage - CNY 2,399 (~$329)
- 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage - CNY 2,899 (~$398)
- 16 GB RAM/1 TB storage - CNY 3,299 (~$452)
