BenQ has introduced a new monitor, the EW2790U, a multifunctional rather than a specialized monitor. The model has a high resolution and wide range of ports, but is not aimed at ambitious video gamers, although it is advertised with various display modes. The company is yet to publish the exact technical specifications, but an overview page makes clear that the model is unlikely to have a refresh rate higher than 75 Hz, which falls short of what is typically expected from a gaming monitor. The EW2790U is a 4K monitor, which means there should be plenty of space for various programs to be run in tandem on the 27-inch screen.
According to BenQ, the monitor is capable of AI support on request, meaning that the contrast ratio is automatically and "intelligently" adjusted according to the content displayed. Various display modes are supported, including one for casual gaming, working and media playback. The EW2790U not only comes with a high resolution and 95% P3 color space coverage, but also strong audio reproduction. Visible speakers with an output of 5 watts are built in just under the screen.
Several ports are available, including three HDMI ports as well as USB-C. Several USB-A ports allow for the connection of peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard. The Display Pilot 2 is said to make configuration easy, and ergonomic functions such as height and tilt adjustment are supported. Information on price or availability is not yet available.
