The BenQ RD series was specially developed for programmers and offers a range of unusual features. First and foremost, BenQ has placed a series of buttons directly on the front, making them particularly easy to reach, while the associated Windows app also allows most functions to be accessed via keyboard shortcuts.
In addition to brightness and color settings, the menu also offers a coding mode, optimized for either light or dark backgrounds. This mode enhances the colors often used for syntax-relevant code sections during programming and adjusts the contrast and colors to be easier on the eyes.
The monitor's white balance can be automatically adjusted to the time of day so that less blue light is emitted, especially at night. The aspect ratio has also been optimized for programmers: the 24-inch model has an IPS panel in 16:10 format, which reaches a resolution of 2560 x 1600, while the 28-inch model comes in 3:2 format and achieves 4K resolution, just like the 32-inch model in 16:9 format.
The monitors have a USB-C port with 90-watt power delivery as well as multi-stream support so that a second monitor can be connected directly to the first and both can be connected to a PC via cable. BenQ has not yet confirmed any further details, but did affirm that the 24-inch monitor reaches a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, a brightness of 300 nits and a frame rate of 60 Hz; 95% of the DCI-P3 color space can be displayed.
