BenQ SW242Q: New affordable professional monitor launches with 16:10 display, SDXC card reader and 90 W USB-C port
BenQ has now introduced the SW242Q, a cheaper alternative to monitors like the SW272U and SW272Q (curr. $799.99 on Amazon). As its name suggests, the SW242Q spans 24.1-inches. According to BenQ's product listing, the monitor utilises an IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel native resolution. Consequently, the SW242Q has a 125 PPI pixel density, which is complemented by a 60 Hz refresh rate and 400 nits peak brightness.
While those figures are somewhat unimpressive, the SW242Q delivers reasonably high colour accuracy, with full sRGB coverage, as well as 90% Adobe RGB and 98% DCI-P3 colour space coverages. Additionally, the SW242Q is Calman Verified and Pantone Validated. However, it should be simple to calibrate using BenQ's software tools.
Furthermore, BenQ has included an SDXC card reader, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports and a USB Type-B connection, along with DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 video inputs. As the image below shows, the SW242Q comes with a USB Type-C port that supports 90 W power delivery too, plus DisplayPort Alt Mode. Thus, the monitor's SDXC card reader and other USB ports will be accessible to a device connected over USB Type-C.
At the time of writing, BenQ sells the SW242Q directly for $479.99. The monitor should be sold from third parties like Amazon though, where it is already listed but currently available. Please see BenQ's product page for more device details.
