LG launches 21HQ613D 1100-nit-bright IPS monitor with peculiar 4:5 aspect ratio
Announced in April 2024, the LG 21HQ613D is a new US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved monitor for medical use. As a professional product, it is guaranteed to come with a price tag several times higher than that of comparable consumer monitors; either way, there is still no official word on pricing as of this writing.
Just like the 21HQ513D, a monitor with a lower 1536 x 2048 resolution that can currently be purchased on eBay for an eye-watering amount of $4,923, the 21HQ613D is notable for its high brightness of up to 1100 cd/m2 and high contrast ratio of 1800:1. While the PPI value delivered by this new monitor is not particularly high at 153.9, it does support several viewing modes, including ones that enable dimming certain parts of the picture while bringing other parts of it into the focus. Color space coverage figures are modest at 100% of sRGB and 72% of NTSC; incidentally, this matches what's listed for the 21HQ513D.
The new LG monitor comes with a versatile stand that supports tilt, swivel, height, and pivot adjustments. It has five customizeable keys to quickly adjust important settings. It also has several DisplayPort and DVI inputs, with the required cables included in the box along with an external power brick.
With no stand, the 21HQ613D tips the scale at 5.45 kg and its dimensions are 364.5 x 474.4 x 78 mm. While the US appears to be the main market for the product, a few of these monitors may soon turn up at hospitals in France among other countries, too.
