Apple TV box ownership is officially no longer the only way to get Spatial Audio on an entertainment system that includes an LG OLED or QNED TV and a soundbar from the same brand.
The set-up should upgrade to activate Apple Music's "premium surround sound" feature by itself, in a roll-out process starting from May 2024.
Those soundbars would also have be those that support Dolby Atmos and have been released from 2022 to 2024. They include the SxxQ, SxxQY and S9xxQR lines from 2022; the "all-in-one" SE6S (available at a 50% discount on Amazon right now), SC9S or S77S models from the following year, and 2024's SxxTR and SxxTY variants.
The OLED models now compatible with Apple Music in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos are all those sold from 2018 onward, while the QNED models are the Q90T and its successors.
Accordingly, these eligible screens also include less conventional releases such as the MyView Smart Monitor, the StanbyME and its Go variant.
Their version of the Apple Music app should also offer a free 3-month trial until April 29, 2025.
