LG showcases future UltraGear OLED gaming monitor with 1440p resolution, 480 Hz refresh rate and META Technology 2.0
LG has released half a dozen OLED gaming monitors this year, including the 480 Hz/1080p and 240 Hz/4K capable UltraGear OLED 32GS95UE (curr. $1,399.99 on Amazon). Reliant on new WOLED panels, these monitors are rivalled by the likes of the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG, a glossy alternative to the UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE that ASUS announced last week.
However, LG Display has a new 27-inch option in development that it previewed in early January 2024 with a 1440p resolution and a 480 Hz refresh rate. Since then, Cooler Master has revealed the GZ2713, which appears to be the first consumer monitor sporting this panel for which there is no LG equivalent. According to TFTCentral, Cooler Master hoped to begin mass producing the GZ2713 by June 2024 ahead of a Q3 or Q4 2024 release for a $1,099 target launch price.
Right on cue, LG Display has showcased the panel again during SID Display Week 2024, which ran between May 14 and May 2024 in San Jose, California. For reference, the company used the same event to exhibit a new type of smartwatch display, full coverage of which we have provided separately. Moreover, it seems that the monitor will support LG's META Technology 2.0, which it debuted during CES 2024 in January.
