ASUS confirms cheaper US pricing than LG UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE for first glossy OLED gaming monitor
ASUS has now provided more launch details for the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG. For context, ASUS presented the monitor last week, roughly a month after confirming that it had delayed the release of the ROG Swift OLED PG39WCDM until this summer. In short, ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG utilises the same 240 Hz and 1440p WOLED panel as the UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE, which launched in February for $899.99.
By contrast, TFTCentral has been informed by ASUS that its monitor will carry a lower MSRP. Specifically, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG will officially retail for $749, $20 more than the UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE sells for on Amazon. However, the company confirmed to TFTCentral that the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG will initially launch on the ASUS eShop for $699, thereby undercutting its rival even after LG's $170 reduction.
Moreover, Newegg and Microcenter plan to carry the monitor for the same price. ASUS implies that the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG improves upon the UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE more than just on price, too. As we have discussed previously, the company claims that ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG as the world's first WOLED gaming monitor with a glossy finish. Theoretically, the lack of a matte coating should allow the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG to reach a higher peak brightness than the UltraGear OLED 27GS95QE. Unfortunately, ASUS has not shared any specifics in this regard. ASUS and its partners will begin selling the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG on May 30.
