Garmin is rolling out beta version 17.22 for the Fenix 7, Epix 2, Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and Marq 2 smartwatches. It is worth noting that Garmin states that this update is not available for the Pro models like the Fenix 7 Pro or the Epix 2 Pro. This is the latest in a string of updates for the wearables, which have been arriving every week this month.
The change log for version 17.22 lists just one improvement, a bug fix for an issue which some users found led their smartwatch to shut down when attempting to start an activity. As with other recent beta updates, the ECG feature is disabled. The previous version, 17.20, brought a hotly anticipated battery drain to the wearables and resolved a problem with the newer 'find my phone' feature.
In a post on the forum, a member of the Garmin team said that users "within the target percentage" would receive the update within the next 48 hours. Plus, users of the Fenix 7 and other related smartwatches can manually trigger the update by going to Menu > System > Software Update > Check for Updates. In other news, Garmin recently released a stable update, version 17.20, for the Fenix 7 series wearables. It is unclear whether or when a stable version of this new beta update could be shared with all users.
