Samsung continues to dominate the global gaming monitor market
Introduced at the end of December 2022, the 34-inch QD-LED Samsung Odyssey G8 (G85SB) curved gaming monitor, which is currently discounted on Amazon by 14 percent and can be acquired for $1,037.99 instead of $1,199.99, was the brand's first monitor to use the OLED panel technology. However, that didn't stop Samsung from ending its first year in this area on the first place.
As revealed by a study conducted by the IDC, Samsung is now in control of 34.7 percent of the global OLED monitor market when considering the total revenue, but it also holds the top position based on sales volume, a figure that reached 28.3 percent. In both cases, the numbers taken into account cover the last year in its entirety.
"This achievement speaks to our drive for excellence and understanding of consumer needs, the key factors in producing outstanding OLED monitors for performance-demanding gamers around the globe," said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, when talking about the company's excellent results for last year.
In addition to the above, it should also be mentioned that the share of 20.8 percent controlled by Samsung in the global gaming monitor market places the South Korean tech giant in the front of the pack. One of the more recent gaming monitors by Samsung worth mentioning is the Odyssey OLED G9, which was named a CES 2024 Innovation Awards Honoree earlier this year.
