The upcoming launch of the Fujifilm X-T50 is basically an open secret at this point, with various previous leaks detailing everything from the new film simulation dial to the hardware, and even an alleged exorbitant price increase. Now, Fujifilm has released a short teaser revealing the time and date of the May X Summit and confirming the existence of the controversial film simulation dial previously attributed to the Fujifilm X-T50.
In the dark video posted to the Fujifilm X Australia Instagram account (embedded below), you can see the camera slowly pan across the hardware that's scheduled to launch at the May 16 X Summit. Right at the beginning of the video, Fujifilm reveals the film simulation dial, appearing exactly as it had been leaked, with its eight predetermined film simulations and a handful of customisable slots.
Alongside confirming the film simulation dial, Fujifilm briefly shows a glimpse of another camera body, which is likely the upcoming GFX100S II that has featured in a handful of rumours from the likes of FujiRumors. The GFX100S II would be replacing the GFX100S (curr. $4,399 on Amazon), while the X-T50 will be replacing the $899.95 Fujifilm X-T30 II, which has earned something of a reputation for being a compact, budget photography powerhouse.
The May Fujifilm X Summit will take place on May 16, 2024, at 3PM (AEST), or 1AM US EST, or 5AM GMT, and it will be livestreamed to the Fujifilm X Series YouTube channel.
