Vivo hints at new flagship smartphone releases as X100 Ultra and X100s render image surfaces
Vivo continues to tease the expansion of the X100 series on Chinese social media, having only recently introduced the X100 Pro globally. For reference, the company is expected to release the X100s and X100 Ultra this month. To that end, a Vivo product manager has now re-shared various sample photos of the X100 Pro (curr. $929 on Amazon), only a day after delivering equivalent shots taken with the X100s.
The camera capabilities of the X100 Pro are already known. However, the same product manager chose to highlight one post that speculates on the potential camera performance of the X100 Ultra, which is rumoured to be the first smartphone to feature a 200 MP telephoto camera. Incidentally, another Vivo executive has confirmed that the company will use its 'upcoming new X series products' to showcase 'BlueImage', a new imaging engine that will work in tandem with the company's proprietary ISP technology.
Ultimately though, Vivo is remaining quiet for now about when it will deliver new X100 series smartphones. Nonetheless, an alleged render showing both the X100s and X100 Ultra has now surfaced online. Embedded below, the image appears to show the X100 Ultra on the left and the X100 Ultra on the right. Unsurprisingly, the pair maintain their siblings' design language, which is dominated by a large circular camera housing.
Based on the same image, it seems that the X100 Ultra contains cameras with f/1.75 to f/2.57 apertures. Additionally, it is possible to make out inscriptions of 14 mm to 85 mm equivalent focal lengths. Somewhat surprisingly, the X100 Pro looks to have one fewer rear-facing camera than the X100s. While both have four rear-facing lenses at first glance, one on the X100 Pro is blank with 'ULTRA' written in place of an actual lens. For now, Vivo has not revealed a specific launch event yet. With that being said, it is likely only a few days away from doing so.
