Huawei has decided to release its latest camera focused globally, breaking from the convention of its recent flagship launches. Ditching the Pura 70 Pro Plus, the series consists of the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra outside China, with prices ranging from €999 to €1,499 for the Pura 70 Ultra.

Typically, it takes Huawei months to offer new products outside China, if at all. For example, the Mate 60 series remains a Chinese exclusive, despite being released in August 2023. The same is true of the Mate X5, its current generation foldable that it announced a month after the Mate 60 series.

Most recently, the company introduced the Pura 70 series, which consists of the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro Plus and Pura 70 Ultra in China. For some reason, the company has not brought all Pura 70 members to international audiences. However, it has decided to release the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra, all with the promise of two years of software updates from EMUI 14.2 onwards and a third year of security updates.

While the trio may look alike, the Pura 70 is marginally smaller, with a 0.2-inch narrower display to boot. Moreover, only the Pura 70 Ultra utilises the Kirin 9010, a 7 nm chipset with one Taishan Big, three Taishan Mid and four Cortex-A510 CPU cores clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2.18 GHz and 1.55 GHz, respectively. In comparison, the Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro feature the Kirin 9000 S1. Unfortunately, the differences between the two chipsets remain to be seen at this stage.

Although all Pura 70 smartphones ship with the same 13 MP front-facing camera too, Huawei distinguishes them by their rear-facing cameras; please see Huawei's product pages for more information in this regard. The Pura 70 also has a marginally smaller battery than its siblings at 4,900 mAh versus 5,050 mAh for the Pura 70 Pro and 5,200 mAh for the Pura 70 Ultra. Likewise, the Pura 70 offers weaker wired and wireless charging wattages.

With that being said, the Pura 70 can still charge wirelessly at 50 W and at 66 W over a wired connection. By contrast, the Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra both reach 80 W wirelessly and 100 W with their wired power adapter. Huawei has priced the trio as follows in the Eurozone with a complimentary pair of FreeBuds Pro 3 earbuds included with orders until June 4:

  • Pura 70: 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage (Black/White) - €999
  • Pura 70 Pro: 12 GB RAM/256 GB storage (Black/White) - €1,199
  • Pura 70 Ultra: 16 GB RAM/512 GB storage (Black/Brown/Green) - €1,499
