Google Pixel 8a leaks in new promotional images with cheaper than expected launch pricing also detailed
Google is expected to officially unveil the Pixel 8a on May 14 as part of its I/O 2024 conference. In the meantime, @OnLeaks and SmartPrix have published more promotional images with which Google will likely promote the device in the coming months. Ultimately, the Pixel 8a shares more design parallels with the Pixel 8 (curr. $549 on Amazon) than its predecessor, the Pixel 7a.
Nonetheless, @OnLeaks claims that Google has decided to charge as much for the Pixel 8a as it did initially for the Pixel 7a. As such, the former should retail for $499 with 128 GB of storage. Meanwhile, the rumoured new 256 GB of storage option is said to cost $559. In other words, the Pixel 8a will be similar to the more expensive Pixel 8 in this regard, which Google sells for $549 or $609 with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, respectively.
Potentially, this price matching between the Pixel 7a and Pixel 8a may not extend beyond North America. According to the equally reliable Roland Quandt, the Pixel 8a is slated to cost €60 more than its predecessor in the Eurozone, with €629 earmarked for the device with 256 GB of storage. However, given that Quandt shared this information two months ago, Google may also make Pixel 8a pricing more competitive in other markets, not just North America.
