Google repositions Pixel Tablet with reduced $399 pricing
Until now, Google has been selling the Pixel Tablet exclusively as a bundle with a speaker dock, a proprietary accessory that it also sells separately (curr. $129 on Amazon). As pre-release leaks suggested, the company has finally decided to offer the Pixel Tablet without its dock, which turns into a quasi-smart speaker. Consequently, the Pixel Tablet is now available for considerably less than it was previously.
Specifically, the Pixel Tablet now starts at $399 with 128 GB of storage. By contrast, Google continues to offer the tablet's 256 GB variant at $100 more. Alternatively, $499 is also how much Google charges for the Pixel Tablet with 128 GB of storage and its existing charging dock. Please note that the tablet's hardware remains unchanged from last year.
As a result, the Pixel Tablet runs the Tensor G2 rather than the Tensor G3 that powers the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the brand-new Pixel 8a. Moreover, the Pixel Tablet still utilises a 2.5K IPS display that outputs at 60 Hz, unlike many of its contemporaries. Incidentally, Google has not announced the Pixel Tablet's rumoured official keyboard and pen accessories yet. However, we would not rule out Google presenting both next week during I/O 2024.
