Garmin has rolled out beta version 19.13 for the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches. The latest software brings a new tool and a range of bug fixes to the wearables.
The first note in the change log relates to the new heart rate dynamic source switching feature introduced in update 19.09. With beta version 19.13, users can turn off the automatic switching between data from a watch and HRM strap; you can find this setting in the wrist heart rate menu. Also included with the new software is a fix for a bug relating to auto distance unit selection for real-time data. Just for the Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 watches is the resolution to a problem with maps in the Garmin Explore app.
The release notes also suggest there are other minor bug fixes and improvements to the user interface without providing further details. Garmin has confirmed that the phased rollout is complete, meaning all eligible Forerunner smartwatches should have the update. The software can be manually downloaded from the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. If you own a Forerunner smartwatch and wish to join the beta program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
