Garmin releases new update with CIQ System 7 support and other improvements for Venu 2, Venu 2S and Venu 2 Plus smartwatches
The Venu 2 series is one of Garmin's more overlooked smartwatches when it comes to receiving software updates. In recent weeks, the company has delivered new features to the Venu 3 series and the Vivoactive 5 (curr. $299.99 on Amazon), which have coincided with the introduction of numerous big fixes. By contrast, the Venu 2, Venu 2S and Venu 2 Plus have remained on Software Version 17.04, or Beta 18.05 for smartwatches enrolled on Garmin's Beta Program.
Now, Garmin has furnished the Venu 2 series with a major update from both Software Version 17.04 and Beta 18.05. As usual, the company has flighted the update to its Beta Program first ahead of an eventual stable release. Arriving as Beta 19.03, the update is the first time that the Venu 2 series has received CIQ System 7 support. While Garmin does not detail CIQ System 7 in its forum post, it did so extensively last December.
In short, CIQ System 7 brings various improvements, full details of which we covered separately. Moreover, Beta 19.03 also ships with 'various bug fixes and improvements'. Unfortunately, Garmin has not revealed what these are at this stage. Beta 19.03 should be delivered through Garmin's Connect Mobile (GCM) service. Alternatively, you can trigger its download manually by heading to the main menu on your Venu 2 series smartwatch, followed by Settings, System and finally Software Update.
