Garmin announces smartwatch beta update with bug fixes for new activity and heart rate monitor
Garmin has announced a new beta update, version 19.12, for the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S smartwatches. This follows version 19.09, which brought new features like a Jet Lag Adviser glance and support for the Garmin Messenger app. The change log for the latest software lists a range of bug fixes for the watches.
First on the list is a fix for incorrect weather temperature values; however, Garmin still needs to detail where these showed up for users. Version 19.12 also resolves a problem for the newer Jump Rope activity, announced in the March 2024 stable update, with data failing to upload in some cases. Plus, the team has fixed an issue which could cause the connection to a Zwift heart rate monitor to drop out for iOS users. “Various bug fixes and UI improvements” is also noted as a catchall for other minor changes.
Beta program participants with a Garmin Forerunner 265 or Forerunner 265S smartwatch can manually search for and download the update by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. The forum post states that the software will reach eligible wearables in phases, with the rollout currently at 20%. It remains to be seen when the Garmin public beta version 19.12 rollout will be complete.
