Garmin has published details of its March 2024 smartwatch feature update. New software is rolling out to a wide range of smartwatches, including the Fenix 7, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 955, Venu 3, Vivoactive 5, Lily 2 and the recently released Forerunner 165. A complete list of the models receiving the update can be found below.
There are five core features in the update. These include multisport auto transition, ensuring the watch intelligently moves on your next activity during events like a triathlon. Users can now access a running track database, with over 10,000 tracks worldwide, and a lap undo tool gives you eight seconds to remove an accidentally recorded lap. Also new to the wearables is the Jump Rope activity with free or goal modes and a countdown timer. Plus, the March update adds a sleep coach, providing your sleep score and customized insights to help you improve your sleep health. Not all features will reach all wearables, and the Venu 3 and vivoactive 5 already have the sleep coach tool; a table (below) illustrates which smartwatches will receive which tools.
The new features have already been shared with the Fenix 7 series and Forerunner 255/265/955/965 watches, arriving in updates 16.22 and 18.23, respectively. The rollout to the Forerunner 165 is also underway in update 9.24. Garmin notes that the software is being released in phases “over the coming weeks”, with eligible smartwatches receiving the update automatically OTA or via Garmin Express.
