New Samsung battery to bring increased battery capacity to Galaxy Watch7 Pro or Galaxy Watch7 Ultra smartwatch
GalaxyClub has spotted a new battery certification that could relate to a forthcoming Galaxy Watch smartwatch release. As the screenshots below show, Safety Korea has certified a battery with the model number EB-BL705ABY. In short, the regulatory body does not reveal any information about the intended use for EB-BL705ABY.
Nonetheless, previous Galaxy Watch releases suggest that 'L705' relates to a smartwatch model number. Please note that Samsung always starts its smartwatch model numbers with 'SM', as in 'SM-R935' for the Galaxy Watch6 LTE. Incidentally, SamMobile mentioned SM-L705 in a recent leak, full details of which we have covered separately. According to SamMobile, SM-L705 is the model number of the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra LTE.
However, the stated battery capacity of EB-BL705ABY implies that SM-L705 is more of a Galaxy Watch5 Pro successor (curr. $159 - renewed on Amazon). Specifically, Safety Korea reports a 578 mAh rated capacity, 6 mAh larger than the Galaxy Watch5 Pro's rated capacity. Given that Samsung advertises the Galaxy Watch5 Pro as having a 590 mAh typical capacity, we suspect that the SM-L705 will near 600 mAh when it launches this summer. On top of that, the SM-L705 is expected to run 50% more efficiently than the Galaxy Watch6 series, thanks to its new Exynos S5E5535 chipset. Thus, the smartwatch should deliver significant battery life improvements over all current Galaxy Watch smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch5 Pro.
