Huawei releases new HarmonyOS 4 update for premium smartwatch
Huawei has released a new update to the Watch Ultimate smartwatch in China. Software version 4.0.0.182(C00M00) brings HarmonyOS 4 to the premium wearable with a range of features and improvements for the watch.
These include three new vitality rings for activity calories, exercise duration and activity hours. Huawei indicates that you can set daily goals and use these trackers to help you develop exercise habits. A new multi-task management interface is accessed by double-clicking the up button. The mode allows you to open, close and move between apps quickly. Huawei also notes that, for some apps running in the background, a shortcut in the form of a small icon near the top of the display allows you to navigate back to the app swiftly; the list of supported applications is not provided.
Another update is the addition of app names on the “chessboard” display layout, and you can zoom in for a clearer view by rotating the crown. Plus, you can customize the workout widget layout and data for certain exercise types. Optimizations include better app icon animations, clearer display fonts and colors and an enhanced golf course mode experience. Software version 4.0.0.182(C00M00) for the Huawei Watch Ultimate is 160 MB in size, downloadable via the Huawei Health app. Whether or when the software will be released in other countries remains to be seen.
