A new rumour from Baidu reveals the specifications of Huawei's next flagship mobile SoC known as the HiSilicon Kirin 9010. It features an 8-core CPU with custom cores, a Balong 5G modem, and an in-house ISP/NPU/GPU. Performance-wise, it trades blows with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Dimensity 9200+.

Update (2024/03/25 14:22 CET): X user @NorthportXtl points out under @QaM_Section31's post that the specs listed below are fake. It is, as NorthportXtl quotes, "what a Huawei fan wants to achieve", meaning this isn't what the Kirin 9010 could actually end up as and a fabrication made up by enthusiastic fans.

Specifications for Huawei's next Kirin SoC have shown up on Baidu (H/T @QaM_Section31 on X). It'll launch as a successor to the HiSilicon Kirin 9000S, which was revealed to be the Kirin 9010 by an earlier leak. It'll be one of the first mobile APs manufactured on SMIC's 5 nm node. Exactly how SMIC plans to operate a 5 nm class node without access to EUV machines remains a mystery.

The Kirin 9010 will feature an eight-core CPU with two Taishan V130 performance cores (3.00 GHz max clock, 6/7 wide decode ALU, 128 KB L1 instruction cache, 64 KB L1 data cache, 1 MB L2 cache) and six Taishan V130 Lite efficiency cores (1.8 GHz max clock, 3/4 wide decode ALU, 64 KB L1 instruction cache, 32 KB L1 data cache, 256 KB L2 cache). It is supplemented by an 8 MB L3 cache and a Maleoon 920 GPU (6 CUs, 750 MHz clock speed).

Other Kirin 9010 specs include a Balong 6000 5G modem, a custom Kirin 8.0 ISP, and a Huawei Ascend NPU and support for LPDDR5 6,400 memory. The chip draws up to 5.2 Watts under a single-core load and 12.4 Watts in multi-core. Its Geekbench 6.0 scores are supposedly 1,800 and 4,800 points, putting it on par with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+, Apple A12X Bionic, and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

Similarly, the Kirin 9010's Maleoon 920 GPU scores 2,800 points in 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme, 54 FPS in GFXBench Aztec Ruins High Tier Offscreen (1440p, Vulkan) and 188 FPS in GFXBench Manhattan OpenGL ES 3.1 (1080p, offscreen. Ideally, the Kirin 9100 should debut alongside the Huawei P70, P70 Pro and P70 Art later this year.
