Lenovo ThinkPad L13 G5 & L13 2-in-1: New ThinkPads now without AMD
The ThinkPad L13 and its convertible counterpart, the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga, have been the most affordable small ThinkPads for a few years now. Originally limited to just Intel models, Lenovo has expanded the line to include AMD variants as well.
That changes with the new Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 5 and the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 2-in-1 Gen 5, which replaces the L13 Yoga. The new clamshell and convertible will come to the market with an unchanged design compared with the previous models, meaning the only changes happen in the inside of these devices.
As the biggest update stands the new platform, which is Core Ultra, also known as Meteor Lake. Noticeably absent is the Intel ARC GPU option, which means only the U series CPUs will be available. Also completely absent are AMD processors: While the previous ThinkPad L13 G4 (available from Amazon) was offered with Ryzen 7030, no Ryzen version of the L13 G5 will be made.
Outside of the new processor, new features are far and between. Both the ThinkPad L13 G5 and ThinkPad L13 2-in-1 G5 gain a new option 5 MPix webcam option, replacing the 1080p option available on the previous models - though 720p remains the base resolution.
The new Lenovo ThinkPad L13 2-in-1 Gen 5 and Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Gen 5 will be available in April, starting at $1,319 and $1,199 respectively.
