Lenovo has announced a bunch of new business-focused ThinkPads today. The ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5 joins the ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3 and others as Meteor Lake-powered workstations. The differences between the two laptops are subtle and are primarily cantered around screen specs. You can buy the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5 and the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3 starting at €1,720. Both laptops will be available for purchase this June.
ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5
Starting with the ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5, you get a 14.5-inch (16:10) screen. It is available in multiple configurations such as FHD+ (IPS, 300 nits brightness and 45% NTSC colour gamut coverage), QHD+ (IPS with optional touch functionality, 350 nits peak brightness, 90 Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage) and UHD+ (120 Hz refresh rate, 430 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, HDR400 certification). It isn't the most portable laptop around as it weighs 1.61 kgs (3.55 lbs).
ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3
The ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3 features a larger 16-inch 16:10 panel which comes in three variants: FHD+ (IPS, 300 nits brightness and 45% NTSC colour gamut coverage), FHD+ (touch-enabled IPS, 300 nits peak brightness and same colour accuracy as the previous version) and UHD+ (OLED panel, 400 nits peak brightness, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, HDR500 certification). The laptop measures 361.50 x 248.60 x 21.13 mm (14.24 x 10.06 x 0.81 inches) and weighs 1.82 kgs (4.01 lbs).
Hardware specifications
On the hardware side, both the ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5 and ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3 can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, 96 GB of DDR5 5,600 memory, and 2 TB of M.2 2280 PCie Gen4 storage. For the GPU, one can stick with the Intel iGPU or opt for an Nvidia RTX 500 Ada Generation variant with 4 GB of VRAM.
I/O on the ThinkPad P14s i Gen 5 and ThinkPad P16s i Gen 3 includes two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, two USB Type-A ports, gigabit ethernet, and a HDMI 2.1 port. Wireless connectivity options are limited to Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and 4G LTE (optional). One can pick between a 57 Wh or 75 Wh battery for either laptop. Other features include a Windows Hello-enabled 5 MP camera (with a physical privacy shutter), and Windows 11 Pro/Linux certification.
