Huawei debuts global range of Nova 12-series smartphones
Huawei’s latest products for the international market are also clearly pitched at an audience that might be more inclined to appreciate the Nova series and its “iconic and dazzling" Super Star Orbit Ring design. Then again, those hoping for the most up-to-date, satellite messaging-enabled, 12 Pro or Ultra variants might be a little disappointed.
Their revamped camera hump and “petal-textured” colorways (custom Nova Blue included) have made it to the Mexico City-based launch - however, they are only available in the Nova 12s, which is almost inevitably a global re-brand of the 12 Lite.
Similarly, the new 12i debuted once before as the Snapdragon 680-powered Pro version of the Enjoy 70, whereas the 12 SE is in fact China's 11 SE that never made it to the global market in 2023.
They all have ~6.7-inch FHD+ displays, although only that of the 12s has a 120Hz refresh rate, with 90Hz as a maximum for the other 2 fresh Nova 12-series recruits. They also have 108MP main cameras, although the 50+8MP set-up of the 12s is the most up-to-date.
The conspicuously 4G/LTE-only handsets have been joined on the international stage by the second-gen FreeLace Pros and ninth-gen Huawei Band.
However, even though they have been confirmed as a new "Super Slim, Super Selfie” product range for the global market, Huawei has yet to outline pricing or availability for any of the new EMUI 14 smartphones or their new wearable companions.
Meanwhile, the new open-ear FreeClips are now available on Amazon.
