Xiaomi CIVI 4 Pro rumoured to be launching outside China but not globally
Only a few days have passed since Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Shortly followed up by the similar Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 serves as a less powerful alternative to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, it remains to be seen how the new chipset fares against the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2; Qualcomm implies that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is also weaker than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its marketing materials.
So far, only Xiaomi has released a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered handset, which it sells as the CIVI 4 Pro. While Xiaomi unveiled the CIVI 4 Pro during a Chinese launch event, Qualcomm's announcement implies that there would be multiple Snapdragon 8s Gen 3-powered handsets distributed globally, including two from Xiaomi. According to GSMChina, the CIVI 4 Pro and its derivatives will actually have a relatively limited distribution, though.
Supposedly, Xiaomi only plans to offer a version of the CIVI 4 Pro in India. For now, the company has not confirmed this is the case yet. However, GSMChina has inferred as much by recent additions of two CIVI 4 Pro-related model numbers on IMEI databases, 24053PY09C and 24053PY09I. With the former already confirmed to be the CIVI 4 Pro, it would appear that the latter is its Indian counterpart. Unfortunately, it is unclear under what name Xiaomi will release the CIVI 4 Pro in India, with 'CIVI' serving as a Chinese-exclusive series until now.
