Huawei P80 series of 2025 smartphones tipped to launch with truly next-gen main camera sensor
Each new leak seems to throw a whole new twist into the Huawei P70 design rumor saga, and the latest tips are no different. They comprise CAD schematics, renders and arguably blurry images that suggest the next-gen flagship smartphones will have camera humps that are triangular rather than square, a change about which revered tipster Digital Chat Station seems ambivalent at best on Weibo.
Nevertheless, Huawei allegedly considers it the best way to arrange 3 lens cut-outs, the largest of which might get so big in the "P70 Art" variant that its XMAGE logo gets pushed out onto an extraneous tag, making its camera hump of an even more unusual shape in 2024.
Some of the new renders also project that some of its individual rear cameras might have extra accents in contrasting colors such as blue. That detail supposedly applies to "P70-series" units in white colorways, although there may also be fully blue versions that are apparently "too ugly" for leaker Evaluation Shop's taste.
All in all, the Huawei P70 series are now roundly tipped to have the most eye-catching camera humps (for better or worse, clearly) in the mobile device industry on its launch, all that attention might be a moot point already in the face of what might be the world's first P80 leak.
Coming courtesy of tipster Jason2025 on Weibo, it specifies that the putative 2025 flagships will forge ahead with the heretofore-unheard of OV50X sensor (presumably from OmniVision), whereas the P70 series "lags behind" with the Sony IMX989 which, while of the cutting-edge 1-inch type, has indeed been around for quite a couple of years now.
