Huawei appears to roll out new software to Watch GT 4 in confusing update
Huawei looks to be rolling out an update to the Watch GT 4. However, while the changelog provided by the company appears to show different enhancements, the software version number is almost identical to that given for the update, which arrived in late January. The newest firmware is 4.0.0.161(SP1C00M04), while its predecessor was named 4.0.0.161(C00M04).
Unfortunately, the changelog for the latest update provides very little information about additional features and optimizations. According to Huawei’s notes, the Watch GT 4’s system stability has been improved “in certain situations”. Precisely what these situations are or how they have been enhanced remains to be seen. Another slight difference is the size of the updates; the new software is 44.42 MB, while the January update was fractionally larger at 47.09 MB. The download size could indicate that more features are included, given that the earlier update brought an increased number of alarm clocks, a privacy and security reminder and improvements to the Weather app. However, Huawei has yet to confirm this.
As with all updates, the company recommends that users ensure they have the latest version of the Huawei Health app before they begin the installation process. It also advises that you ensure the Huawei Watch GT 4 and your phone remain connected via Bluetooth for the duration of the update. In other recent news, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro is receiving Harmony OS 4 in a new software release.
