Garmin’s latest beta update for Instinct 2 smartwatches now available OTA
Garmin is now rolling out the latest update for the Instinct 2 series smartwatches over the air (OTA). In a forum post, the company says it has rolled out its latest software to 75% of eligible Instinct 2s, Instinct 2, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches, bringing a range of bug fixes to the wearables.
Issues resolved with the software include the wrong page loading after editing workout reps, amending alerts for Cross-country Skiing leading to a device crash and problems with location distances in the Reference Point app. If you own one of these models and are enrolled in the beta program, you may be able to trigger the update via GCM or through a sync with Garmin Express. The beta update, version 15.02, was previously only available to side load, which remains an option if you are not included in the initial 75% target audience for the rollout.
Version 15.02 is the first update in the 15.xx beta cycle, with users reporting a range of minor bugs. Two customers have posted in the forum flagging smaller-than-expected fonts on some screens. Potential issues have also been spotted with the race predictor screen, Inline Skating and Italian language translations. Garmin has yet to respond to these users and acknowledge whether these are wider issues. It remains to be seen when the next beta update will arrive for the Instinct 2 series smartwatches.
